Keeping Dental Care Affordable

At Simply Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics, we believe our patients deserve access to high-quality, affordable dental care. With the help of dental insurance, you can ensure that your child receives the preventive services they need to maintain optimal oral health while avoiding additional out-of-pocket expenses required with ongoing oral healthcare. Our dental team is here to answer your questions and ensure you get the most out of your available coverage, so don’t hesitate to contact us today.

How Dental Insurance Works

Dental insurance requires that you pay a monthly premium if you want your insurance company to pay more for the services your child receives. Each plan is different; however, the benefits associated with many policies look something like:

  • 80-100% preventive services covered (i.e., dental exams, dental cleanings, X-rays, fluoride treatment)
  • 70-80% minor restorative services covered (i.e., dental fillings, pulp therapy)
  • 50% major restorative services covered (i.e., dental crowns,)

Cosmetic dental treatments are usually not covered by dental insurance because they are considered “elective” and not medically necessary. Also, unless clarified by your employer, orthodontic services may or may not be included.

What is the Difference Between Dental and Medical Insurance?

Medical insurance is more commonly used when an issue or emergency occurs. If your child becomes sick or suffers a broken bone, you will use your insurance to pay for any treatment they might need to fix the problem. It is considered more of a reactionary type of insurance.

Dental insurance, however, is designed to promote preventive care. Patients receive the greatest savings when seeking dental checkups and cleanings. Doing so reduces their chances of needing costlier restorative care, such as a tooth-colored filling, dental crown or tooth extraction.

In-Network vs. Out-of-Network

No matter if you are in-network or out-of-network, you can count on our team to review your policy and help you better understand the cost of your child’s dental care. We’ll also file all necessary paperwork and claims forms while ensuring you get the most out of your benefits.

In-Network Coverage

Choosing an in-network dentist will ensure that your child not only receives exceptional dental care, but you’ll pay less each time you bring them in for a visit. The reason is that our Simply Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics team has pre-negotiated terms and fees with the following insurance companies:

  • BC/BS MA PPO
  • Aetna PPO
  • Delta Dental MA PPO
  • Delta Dental MA Premier
  • Guardian
  • Humana
  • MetLife
  • MassHealth
  • United Healthcare
  • And many more!

Out of Network

If you choose for your child to see someone who is out of network with your dental insurance, there is a chance that you will be required to pay more; however, you can still expect them to receive the same high-quality dental care.
